TCNA donates tiled doghouses – Floor Covering News
Orlando, Fla.—Tile Council of North America, Inc. (TCNA) members donated unique, handcrafted tiled dog houses to the Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando here at Coverings 2021. Participating companies include: American Wonder Porcelain, Anthology, Casa Ceramic, Crossville, Inc. and Del Conca USA.
According to the company, the forms used to make these dog houses were custom made by Wedi Corp. and contributed by Wedi and TCNA (stand 3233).
“We are grateful to our members for creating these beautiful works of art, which demonstrate that tile can be used in another creative way to beautify a space,” said Kathy Meyer, TCNA’s director of marketing. “The dog houses provide an opportunity for us to support the Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando and their numerous pet-benefit programs in the Orlando area.”
Angela Miedema, Director of Pet Alliance, added: “Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando is grateful to have been chosen again by TCNA as their charitable partner for this project. Thanks to the support of TCNA and its members in this truly creative venture, we can continue to meet the needs of the thousands of shelter animals that come to us every year. We are very grateful for their commitment to helping homeless pets.”
During Coverings 2021, the dog houses were showcased at TCNA’s booth, where a donation ceremony was held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, July 8.
The companies and artists who tiled the dog houses provided the following descriptions:
American Wonder Porcelain (stand 5845)
The theme of the American Wonder Porcelain dog house is “Canine in Chief”, which is suitable for any president. The house is tiled in Polar Style Porcelain and has white PS01 24 x 24 polished field tiles on the body and Wonder’s 2 x 4 brick joint mosaic from the same series on the roof. The tile was installed by Paul Magyar and Kaylee Ledford added the presidential details.
Anthology (stand 3048)
Creating a luxurious home for our favorite four-legged family members was the inspiration for Anthology’s 2021 dog house.
The paw prints, roof and front of this dream doghouse are made from recycled glass, with inkjet printing to resemble Carrara marble. These fit beautifully with the luxurious, glossy white exterior walls. The back of the doghouse is accented with Anthology’s classic royal gem mosaics, giving this puppy palace an unforgettable elegance.
Our best friends deserve the best roofs over their heads and this special dog house was lovingly crafted by Anthology, a company that loves animals.
ceramic house (stand 3230)
The Casa Ceramica dog house was designed and installed by their team of in-house designers, using hand-painted tiles from their classic Mediterranean collection.
4 x 4 classic tiles in Moorish design adorn the sides of the dog house, while the roof features handcrafted subway tiles to create a more transitional feel. The front is decorated with handmade 2 x 2 Mediterranean tile inserts along with a custom fleur-de-lys relief. Casa Ceramica’s classic handmade dog bones add a final playful touch.
Crossville, Inc. (stand 2547)
Crossville’s Doghouse showcases its colorful Cursive mosaic wall tile collection in Oxblood, Soft Teal, Iris and Goldenrod.
The custom pattern was created using Crossville’s exclusive Cursive Pattern Visualizer, a digital design tool that makes it easy to create fun looks.
Del Conca USA (stand 1446)
The Del Conca USA dog house features tiles from the Nature marble collection.
The body of the house is built with Calacatta Gold, a marble with a beautiful creamy white background and gold veins of various sizes.
The roof is finished in Dolomite marble, a surface that represents the Italian “Zebrino marble”, rich in movement with refined linear veins.
