Specialist roofing contractors win place on £180m framework
More than 100 specialist roofers have secured places on a new £180m framework for the public sector
The design, supply and installation of roofing and associated works (RS4) framework of LHC enables local authorities, social landlords and other public entities to find pre-approved local contractors who provide roofing systems for new construction or renovation projects.
The framework is worth up to £100 million in England, £60 million in Scotland and £20 million in Wales. Read also : “Roof of the future” installed in Onalaska. It can be used for public and residential buildings, including schools and universities, high-rise multi-dwelling buildings and sheltered housing.
‘Making it easier to find high quality suppliers’
Dean Fazackerley, LHC Group Purchasing Manager, said: “The vast majority of companies assigned to the cadre are SMEs from across the country, all of whom have been recognized for their proven track record of quality work. “The RS4 framework combines two of LHC’s previous frameworks, pitched roofs (PR3) and flat roofs (FR2), to provide a consolidated option for contracting authorities and to make it easier to find high-quality suppliers for a range of projects.
“The framework also offers contracting authorities a lot more flexibility as it allows them to combine different elements to create tailor-made systems for their projects. They can opt for metal tile and fluid systems in addition to traditional roofing that also includes copper, lead or zinc aspects for specialty buildings, as well as solar panels.”
Contracting authorities can access flat roof system manufacturers and their authorized installers using workstream one for traditional flat roofs, workstream two for liquid flat roofs and workstream three for profiled metal roofs. Traditional pitched roof contractors, who provide full design and installation services, can be obtained through workstream four.
The framework also includes a ‘super lot’ with mixed roofing, so that local authorities can find suppliers for projects with a mix of roof elements, such as a mix of flat and pitched roofs or metal profile roofs and traditional pitched roofs.
