Solar Power International 2021 is canceled

Scholarships for solar energy (SETS) released a pronunciation On Friday, Solar Power International, Energy Storage International and Smart Energy Week were canceled due to devastation caused by Hurricane Ida, which made landfall in New Orleans earlier this week.

The joint event was set to take place September 20-23, but Hurricane Ida left much of the city without power. Electricity recovery is expected to take weeks after what has been declared a federal disaster.

Registrants will receive instructions by email next week for refunds and SETS is urging those who have booked housing and travel to cancel those reservations.

“We hoped to host SPI, ESI and Smart Energy Week this year and provide you with a meeting place to work together on the major issues facing the clean energy industry,” the organization wrote in an email. “We know what this event means to you – for both large global companies and small businesses serving the community – it was the reunion the industry needed to get back to doing business face-to-face.”
