Shaw to expand operations in South Carolina

AikenColumbia, SC—Shaw Industries has announced plans to expand its operations here in Aiken County. The investment of about $400 million will create more than 300 new jobs at the manufacturing facility, which creates fibers used to manufacture home carpet, according to the company.

“Our expansion in Aiken represents a significant long-term investment in our people and processes that will enable us to meet current and future projected market demand for high-performance carpet products,” said David Morgan, executive vice president of operations, Shaw. “This investment positions Shaw well for the future and offers tremendous career opportunities for current and future employees.”

Shaw said the expansion will increase the company’s manufacturing capacity and support future growth for new products. The company said it expects the expansion to be completed by the end of 2024.

According to Shaw, the Coordinating Council for Economic Development has approved the job development credits related to this project. Aiken County also received two set-aside grants, totaling $1,750,000, to help with the costs associated with this project.

“A company like Shaw has options for job creation and capital investment of this significance,” said Gary Stooksbury, president of the economic development partnership. “We are grateful they chose Aiken County. It shows a company that is happy with the business conditions that Aiken County Council is trying hard to maintain.”
