Plumbing employee arrested, charged with murder in triple shooting

A Las Vegas plumbing worker was arrested Wednesday in connection with a shooting last week that left one man dead and another in critical condition.

Jonathan Lopez Lopez, 19, was arrested on a warrant and charged with one count of murder, according to court records.

Witnesses told police that Lopez Lopez was in a “heated argument” with another man at July 1, 20/20 Plumbing and Heating, 4745 Copper Sage St., when the two agreed to end their fight during their lunch break, according to one arrest report from the Metropolitan Police Department.

A request for comment after the company’s hours was not immediately answered on Thursday evening.

Officers were initially called to the case at 11:05 a.m. on July 1, following a report of a shooting. Andy Contreras, 23, was found in the parking lot with a gunshot wound.

Ten minutes later, a man was dropped off at North Vista Hospital with a gunshot wound to the chest. Police said he was taken to the University Medical Center, where he remained in critical condition on Wednesday.

Just after midnight, police said, a third man called the North Las Vegas Police Department and asked for an ambulance because he had been shot in the thigh.

Witnesses told police that Lopez Lopez is suspected of chasing a group of employees and firing shots at them as they dispersed.

Contreras died of a perforation of the lungs, heart, aorta and pulmonary artery as a result of a gunshot wound to the left arm, according to the Clark County coroner’s office.

Lopez Lopez is being held without bail and has a court date scheduled for Monday.
