Plumber left with ‘absolutely nothing’ after thieves raid van for tools and Father’s Day gifts

A plumber has ‘absolutely nothing’ left after heartless thieves stole thousands of pounds worth of tools from his van at a Nuneaton hotel.

Not only did they loot his van of all his equipment, they also stole David Routledge’s clothes that he had bought as a Father’s Day gift from his five children.

The County Durham resident has stopped at the Holiday Inn in Bermuda Park while working on the property in Galley Common.

“As a plumber and heating engineer, my tools and equipment are vital for me to work with,” he said.

“I am absolutely devastated that my equipment, along with thousands of pounds of tools that I worked so hard for, was stolen from my van,” he said.

“Now that I’m just getting back on my feet after the Covid pandemic, like other plumbing engineers, I’m devastated that there are heartless people out there who can do this to someone who works outside the home and five young children.

“I’m worse off now than I was during the pandemic.”

The plumber and heating engineer reported the theft and damage to his van to Warwickshire Police.
