Penn Foster Augments Industry-Leading Platform to Prepare Working Learners for Plumbing Careers
BOSTON, May 18, 2021 / PRNewswire / – Penn Foster, which works with employers and working apprentices across the country to create new pathways to economic opportunity, today announced the release of an updated training program designed to help individuals access careers such as plumber. Penn Foster’s Plumber Career Diploma is now available to employees and job seekers across the country and features dynamic content and assessments designed to both improve accessibility and tailor training to employers’ demands.
Penn Foster’s short online programs are designed to open new pathways to career opportunities that are both accessible and affordable for working learners. The Plumbing Career Diploma will include interactive simulations to help students practice core plumbing skills, such as reading blueprints, selecting and installing pipes and plumbing, and understanding the basic codes, regulations, and standards by which plumbers have to deal with. It will also include more frequent, low-threshold assessments to provide information on achievements and skills acquired, and to help students prepare for roles at power plants, water treatment centers or as independent contractors.
Skilled professions such as plumbing have long provided a path to stable, in-demand and fulfilling careers, said Warn Dara, Chief Customer Officer at Penn Foster. “With these updated programs, we help working students across the country learn the skills they need to access fulfilling, resilient careers – in the industries that will play a vital role in the country’s economic recovery.”
Penn Foster’s curriculum in intermediate skills, including veterinary, health care, and skilled occupations, is used by more than 300,000 students each year.
