Not All Superheroes Wear Capes: Cindy Buchanan
Sometimes the greatest heroes are the people you see every day. The “Not all superheroes wear capes” contest, sponsored by Black Hills Home Services, was designed to find people in your community who were making a difference in the lives of others.
You responded by nominating the people you thought had a positive impact on the community through their job or volunteer work. Now Seattle Refined announces the winners, who will receive a prize of $ 1,000 and the recognition they deserve!
Cindy Buchanan, the founder of Whidbey Island Angels, was nominated by Paula Dinsmore:
Cindy started Whidbey Island Angels during the COVID-19 pandemic. This non-profit organization operates solely on a sponsorship and donation basis, providing food and delivering it to approximately 50 families per week. Dinsmore nominated Cindy because “Cindy started a nonprofit during the pandemic. She calls her people Angels, and they really are. They help everyone, no questions asked. You need food, yes. Help with bills, they find a “They have filled these refrigerators with good food. In Oak Harbor, no one needs to be hungry, sad, or alone.”

When you hear about the heroes in your area, challenge yourself to make a difference, even if it’s just to open the door for someone, volunteer for an hour of your time, or just that little extra to do at work.
