Home Improvement Reunion: Tim Allen and Richard Karn Seek More Power in the New History Series – Get a Release Date

The History Channel announced Thursday that More Power, a new nonfiction series featuring Home Improvement’s Tim Allen, Richard Karn, and DIY YouTuber April Wilkerson, will premiere on Wednesday, June 29 at 10/9c.

The 10-episode series “celebrates the evolution of the coolest and most iconic of tools, from handheld and basic, to industrial and mighty, testing limits in a way only Teams can,” according to the official logline. In each episode, the trio will “go to the field to play with some of the greatest machines that power and serve our daily lives, and meet the men and women who operate them. Along the way, Tim invites some of the most skilled makers into his shop from across the country, tasking them with creating stunning innovations that are tailor-made to suit his needs — because there is always room for improvement.”

“Albert Einstein once said, ‘I’m not a genius, I’m just really curious,'” Allen said in a statement. “Having the opportunity to explore my curiosity deeply and really get to know more about the people and things that made us who we are today excites me. And what better friend to have by my side than Richard Karn? We both really value people who can solve problems not by talking about them, but by ‘doing it’ with great creativity and skill.”

Added Karn: “My friendship with Tim goes back over 30 years… in a row! The opportunity to put on a show like [Home Improvement] Tool Time is undoubtedly exciting. We may not have Binford but we will still have a world of fun!”

Allen, Karn, and Wilkerson previously worked together on another History Channel series, Assembly Required, which finished 10 episodes in April 2021. The show pitted “three amazing builders” against each other to “make crazy buildings with their bare hands”. (A History Channel rep told TVLine that Assembly Required was produced during the upheaval of the pandemic, and has essentially grown into More Power. In other words, Assembly Required as we know it no longer exists.)

Allen and Karn’s latest reunion comes more than 30 years after the premiere of ABC’s Home Improvement. The pair previously reunited in Allen’s Last Man Standing, which ended its nine-season run in May 2021.

In addition to More Power, Allen is currently in production on the Disney+ Santa Clause sequel series, which is expected to be released later this year.
