Home Improvement Reunion: Tim Allen and Richard Karn Seek More Power in New Story Series – Get Premiere Date

The History Channel announced on Thursday that More Power, a new nonfiction series hosted by Home Improvement’s Tim Allen, Richard Karn and DIY YouTuber April Wilkerson, will premiere on Wednesday, June 29 at 9:10 pm.

The 10-episode series “celebrates the evolution of the coolest and most iconic tools, from portable and basic, to industrial and powerful, pushing the limits in a way only Tim can,” according to the official logline. In each episode, the trio will “go out into the countryside to play with some of the greatest machines that power and serve our everyday lives, and meet the men and women who operate them. Along the way, Tim invites some of the most skilled manufacturers from across the country to his store, tasking them with creating mind-blowing innovations specifically tailored to his needs – because there is always room for improvement.”

“Albert Einstein once said, ‘I’m not a genius, I’m just passionately curious,'” Allen said in a statement. “Having the opportunity to explore my curiosity in depth and really get to know more about the people and things that make us who we are today excites me. And what better friend to have by my side than Richard Karn? We both share a great appreciation for people who can solve a problem not by talking about it, but by ‘doing it’ with incredible creativity and skills.”

Karn added: “My friendship with Tim has lasted over 30 years… in a row! The chance to do a show like [Home Improvement’s] Tool Time was unquestionably exciting. We may not have Binford, but we will still have a world of fun!”

Allen, Karn and Wilkerson previously teamed up on another History Channel series, Assembly Required, which completed its 10-episode run in April 2021. That show pitted “three amazing creators” against each other to “create insane builds with their bare hands.” . (A History Channel representative told TVLine that Assembly Required was produced during the throes of the pandemic and essentially evolved into More Power. In other words, Assembly Required as we knew it no longer exists.)

Allen and Karn’s last reunion comes more than 30 years after ABC’s Home Improvement premiered. The duo previously reunited on Allen’s Last Man Standing, which wrapped up its nine seasons in May 2021.

In addition to More Power, Allen is currently in production on the Disney+ Santa Claus sequel series, which is due for release later this year.
