Gurnee library closed by HVAC emergency

After a brief Wednesday afternoon reopening, the Warren Newport Public Library has once again closed due to a problem with its heating and air conditioning system.

After being closed Monday for the July 4 public holiday, library officials announced that the building would remain closed on Tuesday due to the HVAC issues.

The library reopened at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, but has since had to close again.

Noreen Reese, deputy director of the Gurnee Library, said Thursday morning that the HVAC problems started on Sunday and that there was a malfunction in the library’s main air handling unit.
