Gleeson joins Hbos Watergate Plumbers Series

Domhnall Gleeson (“Star Wars: The Force Awakens”, “Ex Machina”) will play John Dean as the main Watergate figure in HBO’s limited series “The White House Plumbers”, which comes from the creators of “Veep”.

The five-part series tells the story of how President Richard Nixon’s own political saboteurs and Watergate masterminds, E. Howard Hunt (Woody Harrelson) and G. Gordon Liddy (Justin Theroux), accidentally overthrew the presidency they were diligently trying to protect.

Gleeson’s Dean is the brilliant, ambitious and youthful White House Counsel who eventually orchestrates the illegal cover-up that brought down Nixon and his government. All three actors have directed series on HBO in the past.

Veep writers and executive producers Alex Gregory and Peter Huyck created the series and will executive produce, while showrunner David Mandel will produce and direct all five episodes.

The series is based in part on public records and the book “Integrity” by Egil ‘Bud’ Krogh and Matthew Krogh.
