EJ Welch targets Southeast region for expansion
St. Louis, Mo.—EJ Welch has acquired certain assets of Gilford-Johnson Flooring, owned by Blue Equity, in Alabama, Eastern Tennessee, Georgia, Mississippi, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia and Florida.
With 60 years of flooring and miscellaneous distribution experience, EJ Welch’s footprint now spans 26 states and nearly 45 locations in the Mid and Upper Midwest, Southern, Mountain States and now a stronger foothold in the Southeastern U.S.

The company also hired Tom Dorsey as Regional Vice President of Sales and Operations for the Southeast region. Dorsey brings 30 years of construction sales leadership, in both manufacturing and distribution, to world-class brands such as Armstrong, Mannington, JJ Haines and CertainTeed. He built a successful career in sales working in all major verticals, including retail, residential, retail and A&D.

EJ Welch recently expanded its reach into the Southeast region with the acquisition of Dealer’s Supply in October 2021, and now through the acquisition of Gilford-Johnson will have warehouses in Cayce/Whitsett, Orlando, Knoxville and Atlanta. “We are excited to partner with leading suppliers already part of EJ Welch and extend these products into flooring and tools and miscellaneous to provide innovative options and one-stop shopping to flooring stores, commercial floor contractors and floor installers,” said Tressa Samdal, vice president of marketing.
