Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute Announces Upcoming Workforce Training and Hobby Courses at CCC&TI.

Mental Health First Aid

Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute are offering a Mental Health First Aid course on July 28 and July 29 from noon to 4 p.m. at the Caldwell Campus in Hudson. This training helps participants to learn to recognize and intervene during a psychological emergency. It is excellent training for human resources professionals, medical professionals, business personnel, faith community leaders, law enforcement officers, and educators. General Contractor Continuing Education

Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute will offer a continuing education course for general contractors on September 11 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. North Carolina General Statute 87-10.2 requires 8 hours of continuing education each year to renew a contractor license. This course offers the 8-hour extension class which includes the 2-hour compulsory course produced by the NCLBGC board with information on changes in laws and regulations and other content applicable to general contracts, along with 6 hours of elective courses. Upon successful completion of the course, students may renew their contractor license. The costs for the course are 195,-. For more information about this course or to sign up, call 828-726-2242. Furniture Technology Institute: Industrial Sewing

Caldwell Community College and the Furniture Technology Institute of the Technical Institute offer an industrial sewing course at J-121 on the Caldwell Campus on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-9pm from August 17 to December 9. Introduction to Industrial Sewing is designed to train students in the manufacturing concepts, tooling, safety, and communication skills that will help them prepare for a career as a sewer in a variety of manufacturing environments. Emphasis is placed on machine operation, setting and maintenance, threading, sewing straight lines, corners, curves and edges. Upon completion, students should be able to set up and operate a variety of industrial sewing machines. The cost of the lesson is $182. Scholarships are available. Furniture Technology Institute: Introduction to Upholstery

Caldwell Community College and the Furniture Technology Institute at the Technical Institute offer an upholstery class on Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:30 PM to 9:30 PM from September 13 to December 15 at J-118 on the Caldwell Campus. The course is designed to provide the knowledge and skills needed to become a novice upholsterer. In addition, students learn the soft skills necessary for work. The course includes core skills, training in upholstery production concepts, tools and safety and training in employability skills, communication, problem solving

Furniture Technology Institute: Automated Cutting Auto

Caldwell Community College and the Furniture Technology Institute at the Technical Institute offer an Automated Cutting class on Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM from August 16 to December 15 at J-121 on the Caldwell Campus. This course is designed to provide the basic operating procedures of an automated cutting machine to cut fabric into parts to specifications in the upholstery and furniture industry using the state-of-the-art Lectra IX Mosaic automated cutting machine. Electric Lineman I

Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute offer Electrical Lineworker I Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, August 9 through September 22 at the Caldwell Campus. The Electrical Lineworker Institute prepares students for careers as apprentices with a Journeyman Lineworker. In this program, students will develop the knowledge and skills to install, operate, maintain and repair outdoor electrical systems, commercial and industrial electrical systems and associated power lines. Industrial Maintenance II

Caldwell Community College and the Caldwell Campus of the Technical Institute offer Industrial Maintenance (Level 2) Mondays and Wednesdays from August 23 to December 15 from 5:30 PM to 9:00 PM on Mondays and Wednesdays. This course builds on the skills learned in the Introduction to Industrial Maintenance course. Students receive basic instruction in a wide variety of areas, including basic operations, blueprint reading, industrial electrical fundamentals, piping and hydrotesting fundamentals, machine maintenance, troubleshooting/service, and machine safety. Industrial Maintenance III

Caldwell Community College and the Caldwell Campus of the Technical Institute offer Advanced Industrial Maintenance (Level 3) in S-103 on Tuesdays and Thursdays from August 24 to December 16 from 5:30 PM to 9:00 PM. The course builds on the skills learned in the Introduction and Intermediate Industrial Maintenance courses. This course is designed to prepare students for entry-level employment as a versatile maintenance technician, where they will be responsible for assembling, installing, maintaining and repairing machinery used in the manufacturing or industrial environment. Caldwell Community College and the Caldwell Campus of the Technical Institute offer an introduction to plumbing (Level 1) from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in J-220 on Mondays and Wednesdays from August 23 to December 15. The class serves as an entry requirement for all other courses in the plumbing program. This course introduces basic plumbing tools, materials, and fixtures. Topics include plumbing materials, different types of fixtures, proper tool selection, and basic plumbing

HVAC III

Caldwell Community College and the Caldwell Campus of the Technical Institute offer Intermediate HVAC (Level 3) from 5:30 PM to 9:00 PM on Tuesdays and Thursdays from Aug. 24 through Dec. 16 at J-232. This course builds on the skills in the Intermediate HVAC course. This course focuses on advanced HVAC principles including fasteners, hardware and wiring connections, troubleshooting for control circuits and motors, troubleshooting for accessories, refrigeration units, ductless and variable refrigerant flow systems, gas heating, heat pumps, oil heating, refrigeration systems and zoning. Growing plants in a greenhouse

Caldwell Community College and the Caldwell Campus of the Technical Institute will offer plant growing in a Greenhouse class on Tuesdays from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the CCC&TI Greenhouse on the Caldwell Campus from September 14 to October 19. Students learn about seed pollination, starting new plants from cuttings and other non-seed methods, types of pests, soil types, ventilation, humidity levels, water needs, types of light, temperature control, organic, GMO and non-GMO. The lesson also covers keeping popular houseplants healthy over the winter and propagating new plants at home or in a house greenhouse. The instructor is Dave Updike. The cost is $112. Basic Law Enforcement Training Fall Academy

Massage Therapy Continuing Education Workshops

Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute will host two continuing education massage therapy workshops at the J.E. Broyhill Civic Center in Lenoir for currently licensed massage therapists to receive credits toward their license renewal. Deep tissue techniques for orthopedic conditions will be offered on September 29 from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm. Computer Shoulder Unlock will be offered from 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM on September 30. Eric Stephenson, LMBT, co-founder of imassage, Inc. in Chapel Hill is the instructor for both workshops. The cost for one day is $250. For both days, the cost is $475.
