Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute will soon have several further education options available.

Spiritual first aid

Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute will be offering a First Aid course for mental health at the Caldwell Campus in Hudson on May 24 and May 25 from 12 noon to 4 pm. This training helps participants learn to recognize and respond to a mental health emergency. It is an excellent training for HR professionals, medical professionals, business personnel, faith community leaders, law enforcement personnel, and educators. General Contractor Continuing Education

Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute will be offering General Contractor Continuing Education classes on May 22 from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. North Carolina General Statute 87-10.2 requires 8 hours of continuing education per year to renew a contractor license. This course offers the 8-hour extension lesson which includes the 2-hour compulsory course produced by the NCLBGC board with information on changes to the laws and regulations and other content applicable to general contracting, along with 6 hours of electives. Upon successful completion of the course, students can renew their contractor license. The cost for the course is $ 195. For more information about this course or to register, call 828-726-2242. Free training for advanced manufacturing careers

Do you want a career in advanced manufacturing? Sign up for the free IMPACT Institute at Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute. The 4-week course, offered from June 7 to July 1, prepares you for advanced entry-level manufacturing jobs and qualifies you for scholarships to further your education in: industrial maintenance, machining, mechatronics, mechanical engineering and welding. Furniture Technology Institute: Industrial Sewing

Caldwell Community College and the Furniture Technology Institute of the Technical Institute offer an Industrial Sewing course on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30 pm to 9:30 pm, from May 20 to August 10 at J-121 on the Caldwell Campus. Introduction to Industrial Sewing aims to train students in the production concepts, tools, safety and the communication skills that will help prepare them for a career as a sewer in a variety of manufacturing environments. Emphasis is placed on machine operation, installation and maintenance, threading, sewing straight lines, corners, curves and stripes. Upon completion, students should be able to set up and operate a variety of industrial sewing machines. The cost of the class is $ 182. Scholarships are available. Furniture Technology Institute: Introduction to Upholstery

Caldwell Community College and the Furniture Technology Institute of the Technical Institute offer an Upholstery course on Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:30 PM to 9:30 PM, from June 2 to September 1 at J-118 on the Caldwell Campus. The course is designed to provide the knowledge and skills necessary to become a budding upholsterer. In addition, students learn the soft skills necessary for work. The course includes core skills, training in upholstery manufacturing concepts, tools and safety, and training in employability, communication, problem solving and critical thinking skills. Furniture Technology Institute: automated cutting

Caldwell Community College and the Furniture Technology Institute at the Technical Institute offer an Automated Cutting class on Mondays and Wednesdays, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, August 16 to December 15 at J-121 on the Caldwell Campus. This course is designed to provide the basic procedures of an automated cutting machine to cut fabric into sections according to specifications in the upholstery and furniture industry using the state-of-the-art Lectra IX Mosaic automated cutting machine. Electric lineman I.

Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute offer Electrical Lineworker I Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm, August 9 to September 22 at Caldwell Campus. The Electrical Lineworker Institute prepares students for careers as an apprentice to a Journeyman Lineworker. In this program, students will develop the knowledge and skills to install, operate, maintain and repair outside residential, commercial and industrial electrical systems and associated power lines. Industrial maintenance II

Caldwell Community College and the Technical Institute’s Caldwell Campus offer Intermediate Industrial Maintenance (Level 2) on Mondays and Wednesdays from August 23 to December 15 from 5:30 PM to 9:00 PM in S-103. This course builds on the skills learned in the Introduction to Industrial Maintenance course. Students are given basic instruction in a wide variety of areas including basic operations, blueprints, basics of industrial electricity, basics of piping and hydro testing, machine maintenance, troubleshooting / service, and machinery safety. Industrial maintenance III

Caldwell Community College and the Technical Institute’s Caldwell Campus offer Advanced Industrial Maintenance (Level 3) on Tuesdays and Thursdays from August 24 to December 16 from 5:30 pm to 9:30 pm in S-103. The course builds on the skills learned in the Introduction and Intermediate Industrial Maintenance courses. This course is designed to prepare students for entry-level jobs as a versatile service technician, where they will be responsible for assembling, installing, maintaining and repairing machines used in the

Sanitary I.

Caldwell Community College and the Technical Institute’s Caldwell Campus offer induction to plumbing (Level 1) from 5:30 PM to 9:00 PM on Mondays and Wednesdays, from August 23 to December 15 in J-220. The class serves as the entry requirement for all other courses in the plumbing program. This course introduces basic tools, materials and fixtures for plumbing. Topics include plumbing materials, different types of fixtures, proper tool selection, and basic plumbing systems. The cost of the class is $ 182. Scholarships are available. Plumbing III

Caldwell Community College and the Technical Institute’s Caldwell Campus offer advanced plumbing (Level 3) from 5:30 pm to 9:00 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays, August 24 to December 16 in J-220. This course will build on the skills learned while taking the Intermediate Plumbing Class. This course introduces advanced piping principles applicable to the plumbing industry. Students learn to identify and use various pipes, fittings and materials in household water and drainage installations. The cost of the class is $ 182. Scholarships are available. HVAC III

Caldwell Community College and the Technical Institute’s Caldwell Campus offer Intermediate HVAC (Level 3) from 5:30 PM to 9:00 PM on Tuesdays and Thursdays, August 24 to December 16 in J-232. This course will build on the skills of the Intermediate HVAC course. This course focuses on advanced HVAC principles, including fasteners, hardware and wiring connections, troubleshooting for control circuits and motors, troubleshooting accessories, refrigeration units, piping and variable refrigerant flow systems, gas heating, heat pumps, oil heating, cooling systems and zoning.
