Bolon collaborates with Patricia Urquiola
Ulricehamn, Sweden—Bolon, a Swedish design company that creates innovative flooring solutions for public spaces, introduced its collaboration with the well-known architect and designer Patricia Urquiola. Patricia Urquiola’s Bolon was the result of years of admiration for the Spanish designer of design, Urquiola said. The collection is an ideal flooring solution for office spaces, hotels or other spaces with room for artisanal details.
While working on the collection, Urquiola said he found a similarity between the weaving technique of Bolon floors and the Japanese tradition of Sashiko stitches. According to Bolon, the collection is characterized by soft colours, characteristic stitching and patch-like patterns.
“When we started working on this collection, we wanted to give the floor a more authentic feel,” Urquiola says. “We wanted to convey coziness, a sense of warmth and Sashiko emerged as the leading concept for the collection.”
Bolon by Patricia Urquiola consists of one design in four colorways: Nude Sashiko, Gray Sashiko, Light Sashiko and Sage Sashiko. The floor, made in Sweden, comes in rolls, contains recycled material, is easy to maintain, has a high-performance 33 Heavy commercial rating and a 15-year warranty.
“The collection is a great addition to our existing range and we are proud to add Patricia to our portfolio of Bolon friends,” said Annica Eklund, chief creative officer at Bolon.
