Backsheet division of DSM acquired by Worthen, company renamed Endurans Solar

Industrial adhesive and coating company Worthen Industries acquired the Advanced Solar business from science company DSM in March 2021 and today announced a new entity name: Endurans Solar. The new company will combine Worthen’s manufacturing know-how with DSM’s solar materials expertise to become the market leader in co-extruded backsheets.

The fully recyclable ‘DSM Endurance’ backsheet will be renamed ‘Endurans’ and the new company will continue to produce DSM’s well-known conductive backsheet used on back-contact solar modules.

“We are thrilled to begin this new chapter in our collective history,” said Nathan Arbitman, president of Endurans Solar, an industry veteran who previously served as Global Business Manager and Strategy & Innovation Director for DSM Advanced Solar. “By combining the strengths and capabilities of these two teams, we are now extremely well equipped for faster, more sustainable growth.”

Endurans Solar has a global presence with sales, development and production teams in China, India, Belgium, the Netherlands and the United States – and an established international customer base. The new company remains fully committed to serving all existing DSM Advanced Solar customers.

In September 2020, DSM also announced that it had reached an agreement on: sell the coatings activities of DSM Advanced Solar to Covestro AG.
